About the New England TACE Center (Region 1)

The New England TACE Center (Region 1) is part of the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) at the University of Massachusetts/Boston and includes a collaboration with Assumption College. This center is funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA).

The New England TACE Center (Region 1) began on October 1st, 2008 with Cecilia Gandolfo (ICI) as Project Director, and Tom McCarthy (Assumption College) as a Co-Director. This TACE Center is charged with responding to the training and technical assistance needs of the ten New England state Vocational Rehabilitation agencies and their partners in the six states.

The goals of the TACE Centers are to:

  • contribute to the improved quality of VR services; help increase effectiveness & efficiency of State VR agencies and their partners in delivering VR services;
  • help improve the quantity and quality of VR employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities.

Nationally, the TACE Centers combine and replace the two (Vocational Rehabilitation & Community Rehabilitation Providers) Rehabilitation Continuing Education Programs (RCEP) in each region. In New England this involves TACENE (formerly the RCEP for Community Providers) at the Institute for Community Inclusion and the RCEP Region 1 (the RCEP for VR) at Assumption College.

The staff of the TACE Center – New England look forward to working with the VR agencies and their partners in this region. For more information on the TACE Center--New England (Region 1) feel free to contact either:
