Karen Flippo, MRA
Karen Flippo, MRA, is a Program Manager for Training and Technical Assistance with the Institute for Community Inclusion, UMass Boston. Her previous position was the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) located in Alexandria, Virginia. At the NACDD, Ms. Flippo was responsible for the implementation of directives, policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors, provided executive management of the organization, and worked to develop and implement services to Member Councils, including public policy development, business development and public relations and marketing. Prior to this position, Ms. Flippo was the Vice President of the Brain Injury Association of America, where she was responsible for managing government and affiliate relations, information and resources, and the education and training departments. Previous work includes serving as the Director of the national UCP’s Special Project’s Division, where she was responsible for managing employment, AmeriCorps, and assistive technology grants and contracts. She also worked as a Project Director for training and technical assistance while she was employed with the University of San Francisco Rehabilitation Administration Department, and at the Rehabilitation and Training Center on Supported Employment at Virginia Commonwealth University. In these positions, she traveled across the country delivering direct service and management training with an emphasis on supported employment, assistive technology, job development and marketing, and management and organizational development. She has over 30 years of experience in rehabilitation and disability that spans direct service, grants management, organizational management, public policy, education and training, research, evaluation, and federal government service.
